Elisa wondered the place called Ecruteak. She'd recently come to the city. Her Bayleef, Alice followed closely beside her, smiling just as brightly as the purple haired girl. Elisa wasn't a strong trainer. She was a bit of a coward and doubtful of her own abilities. But she was friendly with just about everyone and was appeared to be happy.

So when she took noticed to the blue haired gym leader she had come to battle early on in her journey, she was naturally relived to find someone she knew.

Falkner was his name. When Elisa had met him, he seemed to have a disposition she couldn't explain. He seemed to be a 'strictly business' type, battling her and giving her a badge when she had one. It had taken her time, however; and he'd comment each time she came back to his gym to try again.

But it didn't really go further than that. Something as simple as 'hello' and 'goodbye' and the contact between the two seemed to be cut off. She assumed it was like that for every trainer but the more she battled, the more she noticed friendly gym leaders and trainers. Perhaps it was just him. She wasn't sure. But she approached him anyways as he peeked into the empty gym.

She and Bayleef wandered up to the blue haired male whose back was still turned to her. He squinted his eyes, trying to see into the darkness but finding no movement in the gym.

"He must be gone." He muttered to himself, still unaware of the female looking at him.

She placed her hands behind her back, a grin on her face. Titling her head to one side, she spoke. "Who's gone?"

Falkner tensed at the voice. He slowly turned his head, meeting the gaze of the female. She gave a friendly wave in response, the smile never leaving her face.

"Do you remember me?" She inquired cheerfully.

"I do," He replied briefly. "I didn't expect to see you again."

That statement shook her a little. She tried to brush it off, smiling and hitting her head lightly with a balled fist. She laughed a little as she did so, trying to appear friendly.

"That hurt a little."

He didn't respond as she hoped he would. He simply stared at her with cold eyes, studying her. Sensing her discomfort, Bayleef nuzzled against her head against her arm. Elisa returned the gesture by stroking her on the head gently. Awkwardness fell upon the three as her smile faded into a frown.

"I need to be going." Falkner suddenly broke the silence.

"Oh, um. I'm sorry for bothering you." She replied. It was slightly muttered and there was disappointment in her tone. He didn't seem to take notice or if he did, he simply didn't care. He walked passed her without another word, leaving her confidence horribly shaken.

She'd simply wanted to speak with him; as a friend and fellow trainer. But it seemed he wouldn't have it. She hoped she'd see him again within the day or the next. She wasn't going to give up just this yet. Her confidence shaken, it only seemed to make her more determined to speak with him again.

After all, there was nothing wrong with having a friend. And it seemed he so desperately needed on himself. But she'd wait for now, regain her confidence to speak with him; then perhaps try again in hopes that the gym leader would at least open up to her a little.
